District 27 Superintendent
District 27 Superintendent
Dear District 27 Community,
I am truly honored to be given the opportunity to serve as your Superintendent. As a former Principal, I haven’t forgotten the hard work of teachers, school staff and leaders; the dedication and commitment displayed by parents, families and community members in ensuring our students are provided with the best educational opportunities possible far too often go unnoticed. With all the obstacles that we have faced together and continued road to achievement moving forward, please know that I along with the entire District 27 team respects all that you do.
One of my top priorities as Superintendent will be to strengthen your trust in our District 27 team. Without trust, we cannot make change! Our goal is for you to know that the members on this team support you, and you feel comfortable in relying on us to help you achieve the best outcomes for your family. Your success is our success. I am excited to partner collaboratively with you to reimagine our work together.
I welcome this amazing opportunity to start fresh, to renew relationships and restore trust in an era that will be focused on developing the reading and writing skills of our students, building on a conceptual foundation of mathematics and continuing to provide access and exposure to high level learning opportunities for every student across this district. As you explore this website, I hope you see how our collective vision for student achievement, leadership development and family partnerships are connected to our daily, weekly and monthly practices.
We look forward to engaging with you and our students across our varied social platforms across our district; Facebook, Instagram (@district27nyc), Twitter (@d27nyc) and our upcoming District 27 student-led podcast. It’s always exciting to share all of the amazing things that our students, teachers, staff and school leaders are doing in their schools.
I humbly assume this role as your Superintendent and I look forward to our continued partnership.
In Unity,
David Norment
Community School Superintendent District 27
